Quicker way to add images to variants

It would be great to have a way to speed up the process of adding images to products, that does not involve a spreadsheet. The advanced inventory manager is a good tool, just not for adding images to variants. it can be extremely time consuming if you have a lot of variants.

Let’s say I have a product that comes in 8 different colours and 13 different sizes. 104 variants. I want the image to change when a user clicks on the colour swatch on the front end, so this requires me to go into all 104 variants and add the appropriate image(s). As you can imagine, this becomes very tiresome, very quickly.

An option could be to add images against a colour but also the ability to override each variant if needed. This means I would only need to add my images to 8 variants and not 104 individually! This is just one option and may not work in every scenario, but I imagine you will have other ideas to improve this suggestion.
