Integration with Taxamo

Can EKM please look at an integration with Taxamo? This will help us and many EKM businesses who sell to the EU. This will be the most cost effective way to deal with the EU IOSS VAT system. At the moment I am directing all my EU customers to our ebay store as this will be a cheaper option for them as non IOSS orders are receiving heavy customs charges.

If this is not possible can an API be created between EKM and Taxamo? The Taxamo API info is here https://integrate.taxamo.com/docs/api-overview

I have spoken to a developer but they are unsure if an API can be created unless EKM confirm this.

Hi Eve, I am aware of the EKM API information. The developers that I have spoken to need to know if the 2 API's are compatible? This is something only EKM will know. Once we can determine this is possible we can have a developer quote for the work needed in creating the API.

I've been asking about Taxamo Assure since early June via Support & on here. I agree that this appears to be the most cost effective way to deal with the EU IOSS VAT system if you are sending less than 20 EU parcels per month (from my calculations). Also, as I understand it, because Taxamo Assure uses its own VAT calculating system, using Taxamo would not require EKM to update its VAT systems.

From the support link about API "This is an advanced Feature which is only available to EKM online shops on the Advanced and Pro tiers of service." The Advanced tier is for up to £1m sales per yr & costs £194.99 per month. If a store is up at that level of sales then Taxamo Assure at a Pay As You Go rate of £2 per order would not be the best solution for them, unless EU sales were a very small % of their total. Instead, a more cost effective solution would be (approx) £2000 a year to get their own IOSS number via an intermediary.

To Matthew - I would be interested to hear how you are progressing with Taxamo API? Via some research I have found reports that the current Taxamo system has issues with discounts?

Agree with Chris's comments - Taxamo seems to be the best (the only?) cost effective solution for small businesses sending to the EU.

I've been told that an IOSS solution is "under development" and has been for some months. It would be really useful for EKM to share details of this, even if only high level

Still waiting for news on both EU VAT implementation & Taxamo? We're getting some orders cancelled due to EU customers having to pay VAT & handling fees before their order is delivered. It's not too bad in Germany where the handling fee is around 6 Euros (via Royal Mail) but in Belgium it is 24 Euros & sometimes this doubles the cost of their order so it's understandable that they want to cancel when they find out.
