Base weight for small parcels.
I would like the system to allow me to add a base weight to orders. I know that I can put individual weights for each product however if a customer orders 10 items from my website and they each weigh 20 grams then the total weight they get charged for would be 200 grams. However I then find that when I pack the parcel it could weigh 250 grams with the box and packing therefore the price I have charged does not cover the postal cost.
If the system would allow me to have a starting weight of 50 grams and then each item that is added increases the total weight the total weight. That would be more accurate and the customer get a fair deal.
With the postal charges going up, especially for the USA, I need to have an accurate way of being able to charge the customer. If I just add and extra £2.00 to the postal charge it may discourage a customer that wants to order just a small item.

DougRather than a Base weight - just call it it as it is, separate option of - "Packing weight" . The packing weight also could be variable. eg for up to 10 items 200g, but for 10-20 items may 400g. Base weight is good start, but the: It is the Box, the Tape, and the additional multiple lables /forms.
Though "seeing" the additional weight in the front end may not be good for the customer - an overall P&P charge as opposed to separate Postage and Packing weight charges would likely be preferable -

Eve Bolan AdminHi Keither, if you have a base price for your packaging, you can add this figure in the Price field towards the top of the page where you edit each delivery method. This base price will then be added to the total weight price as each order goes through the checkout flow. :)
