Switch Variant Styles

Some of our variants are drop down but they need to be changed to Size. There is no quick way of doing this other than to manually add a new variant and retype each option and price for every listing. Cant there be a way of selecting a pre-set up variant which can be quickly added to all selected listings? We have 7000 to update and I managed to manually update just 7 listings in 3 hours. Its long!
