EORI Number for international shipping. This is the law now.
This is not a suggestion, this is now required by law. Brexit January 2021. This number is required for shipping. It is not possible to Ship internationally without this number and it is ridiculous that at the moment we have to e-mail our customers for this number before we can fill in the shipping and send the goods.

Eve Bolan AdminHi Hannah, you can add a field onto the Checkout Flow for your customers to add in their EORI number to save you having to email them separately. You'll find the instructions in this Guide: https://support.ekm.com/support/solutions/articles/44000856402 :)

Tom WaltonIt would be beneficial to have the option to restrict the additional information fields based on their location so that not all customers see the EU additional field but those in an applicable country would.

Matt LargeHi EKM - We've had that extra field for years on our site as was good practice to include this, and was used by us for the now obsolete EC Sales reporting.
We have this field BUT WE CANNOT MAKE IT MANDATORY AS IT'S FOR ALL CUSTOMERS INCLUDING THE MAJORITY WHO ARE UK CUSTOMERS .
SO AS FAR AS WE SEE IT NEEDS TO ONLY APPLY TO EU CUSTOMERS.
Could EKM possibly build in an auto EORI check using this website and check the validity of the EORI number ??:
https://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/dds2/eos/eori_validation.jsp
In summary, we either ask for the Personal Tax number for EU consumers, or the EORI number for EU Businesses. Either is a must have, and couriers are sending the goods back to the UK if either is missing! (which we now avoid by ensuring one is entered), or if the number is invalid (in which case the couriers mainly sit on the packages for some time and after the customer not receiving the parcels after some time, we end up calling them to find this out)
