SeanNow with EKM being partnered with Doofinder, I do hope that something like this is possible. It has undoubtedly cost us sales whereby a customer has failed to successfully find what they were looking for on our shop.

jayGot doofinder installed - would be nice if it was integrated but you have to use a CSV on EKM but for the price it's an absolute no brainer!

stuartI have been with elm for 13 years and we have phoned them several timesaver the years to complain about the poor quality of the search option.

If a customer types thee words for example 10mm jump rings then the search pulls up any product with any of the three words in its description . In some cases it produces hundreds of results. Our customer complain about it all the time and I know for certain some customers have stopped using our website for this reason. Developers try it for yourself! -

Jonathan LimbertI feel the same. We should not have to pay a third party like Doofinder $98 a month just for a decent search engine. Description search for Rick Springfield displays 340 inaccurate results like Dusty Springfield and Cheap Trick with Rick Springfiled hidden within the 340 results in no particular order. It would be OK if the 23 Rick Springfiled results were displayed first instead of randomly scattered. EKM description search is not fit for purpose as the relevant results are never first in line.

Ben10+ years at ekm and one of the worst things is the search options - needs upgrading asap

CraigEKM's strong point is not having to pay for third-party apps. Doofinder is not the way to go. EKM should build this as a feature.

Lawrence@EKM - are you able to confirm if this is going to be built as a feature of the standard subscription i.e. no additional cost?
-

MillieWe've just finished our Doofinder trial - we already have a large monthly fee for our Advanced plan.
Please partner up with Doofinder or make your own version to be included as standard. -

ShamackYes the idea of using Doofinder is ridiculous. It is a reap of to pay for each request. Every decent website should have at least option to SORT BY PRICE (hight to low, low to high). EKM should apply this at least. EKM should think about making more value within the EKM system not outside.

JonIt has been over 6 months since this was marked "Planned" so can someone from EKM please answer these 2 crucial questions?
Are we waiting for a feature that will be part of our basic subscription with no extra cost?
Do you plan to charge extra for it?
It would help if we knew exactly what we are waiting for so we can plan ahead.
In my opinion predictive search would set EKM above any competition... but only if it is included in all pricing plans.
Can someone from EKM please comment? -

Shamack@Jon yes I agree with you.
Improving of SEARCH ENGINE for our customers is a must. At the moment the experience is quite poor. I hope that EKM will take it serious as this would add the value to their whole system as well. We all need better solution than it is available now. SORT BY and FILTERS could help to improve this experience at least. -

Eve Bolan AdminHi Everyone,
I've spoken to our Development Team about this issue this morning and this task has been approved and work will begin on improving the search engine functionality on the EKM online shop platform very soon. -
01 May, '19
Shamack@Eve Bolan great news:)!!! Looking forward to hearing about the progress and end result:) Would you be able to tell a little bit more about what will be done in the project exactly? Thanks
-
01 May, '19
Eve Bolan AdminHi @Shamack, I'm afraid I can't advise what functionality is involved in this update, and will not know this myself until the Development Team has begun work on this project. The Development Team do reguarly review this Suggestions Board, so they will see your comments. All you need to do now is wait for the project to be built, tested and completed, and we'll provide a notification when it's done.

NickPredictive search should be standard feature, therefore it gets our vote because it helps user navigation.

Sean@Eve Bolan, Do we have any further information on this project?
-

Paul from Into-Health SupplementsOh dear, I just started a new subject asking pretty much the same. The search function is archaic and belongs back in 1998. I have now noticed this thread, and @Eve Bolan stating more than a year ago that the search functionality issue was being addressed does not fill me with confidence. What's happening Eve?

Adam KingstonThe search functionality seemingly doesn't interrogate anything except the product title and if you add a word not present in the title it doesn't show any relevant results, for example "white rock salt 25kg" doesn't show white rock salt as a result. Having carried out an audit of searches it's apparent that we're likely losing countless sales as a result. We work with various platforms and have never come across search functionality as limited as this. Predictive search would help to resolve some of these issues if implemented correctly, but the search functionality really needs a fundamental overhaul.

LeonWe've only just launched our site and I'm surprised that the search function is so limited? It's only picking up words in the product title, so nothing from the category or descriptions? We make miniature figurines and I've got 4200 products that are in the '10mm' scale. If I type 10mm into my search box I get zero results!
I could edit every product title to include this but then I'm just duplicating information that's already present in the category levels and it's going to look very cluttered and untidy in the category pages. This is an urgent upgrade please as I can already see in our Search Stats that folks are looking for things we produce but they're not getting the right search results. -

Eve Bolan AdminThis is currently available in Labs and can be tested out: https://support.ekm.com/support/solutions/articles/44002460303 :)

Arvind AswaniAlready tested. Took just 30 seconds to find a show-stopping bug. Products don’t even get indexed for the search.

Eve Bolan AdminArvind - read the Guide for it linked above - you need to wait for the system to index the products for it to work - it is not instantaneous. :)
